SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- First years Audrey Lin (Fremont, Calif.) and Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) finished in a tie for sixth place to lead Wellesley College golf to runner-up honors following final round play at the 2019 Jack Leaman Invitational, hosted by Amherst College at The Ledges Golf Course.
The Blue entered the day in a tie for second with NYU, but five players finished with sub-80 scores, as the Blue posted a program-low round of 302 to seize the runner-up finish. Williams (308-289-597) claimed the team title, with the Blue (324-302-626) finishing six strokes ahead of third place NYU (324-308-632).
After shooting a 77 on Saturday, Lin dropped a stroke from her score on Sunday, shooting a collegiate best to finish tied for fourth (77-76-153). Yang had the low round of the day for the Blue, carding a new collegiate low with a 73. Junior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) moved from 32nd to 20th on the leaderboard, posting a new collegiate low with a round of 74 on Sunday (88-74-162).
First year Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) was the fourth member of the Blue to finish in the 70s, shooting a 79 on Sunday. Blonder tied for 27th (86-79-165). Classmate Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.) finished the week in a tied for 22nd (81-82-163). Playing as an individual, first year Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) tied for 17th, shooting 83-78-161 over the weekend.
Wellesley will look to carry the momentum into next weekend's Liberty League Championships, Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, at the Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, N.Y.
