Wellesley Golf in the Hunt After Day One at the George Phinney Golf Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Wellesley College golf is in fourth place following first round action at the George Phinney Golf Classic, hosted by Middlebury College at the The Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

The Blue (322) are five strokes back of both Amherst and Williams, who are each tied for second (317). The host Panthers are in first place following a first round 312. Wellesley is two strokes clear of fifth place NYU.

Sophomores Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) and Ella Warburg (Mercer Island, Wash.) are tied for 13th with matching scores of 79. First year Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is one stroke back of Blonder and Warburg in a tie for 17th (80).

Senior Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is four strokes back (84) in a tie for 25th place, while first year Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) is in a tie for 39th (87) to close out the Blue team scores.

Final round play at George Phinney Golf Classic begins on Sunday at 9:00 AM.
