Wellesley Golf In Sixth After Day One of George Phinney Golf Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Senior Kate MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) shot an 82 to lead Wellesley College golf to sixth place (340) in a field of 12 after day one at the George Phinney Golf Classic hosted by Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt.

New York University (325) and Hamilton College (325) were tied for the lead after the first half of competiton, while Williams College (326) sat just one stroke behind in third place. Hamilton senior Maddie Hong (Glastonbury, Conn.) was the individual leader after day one with a 76.

MacVicar was followed by her sister, senior Caroline MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) who shot an 84. Junior Marilyn Fang (Beijing, China) shot an 86, while classmate Emma Lim (Skillman, N.J.) shot an 88, and sophomore Elizabeth Kim (Riverside, Calif.) shot a 90 to round out the Blue.

Playing as an individual first year Ashley Cong (Troy, Mich.) shot an 83, good for a tie for 18th place. 

The Blue return for round two at 9:30 AM tomorrow in Middlebury, Vt.
