WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College fencing has been named a 2024-25 United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) All-Academic Team honoree. Additionally, 18 members of the Blue have received individual USFCA honors, including 13 who have been named Scholars of Distinction.
Head Coach Rob Charlton's squad is an All-Academic Team for a fifth year in a row, recording a 3.59 team GPA.
Recent graduates Makana Burch (Washougal, Wash.) and Mia Chao (Washington, D.C.), rising seniors Gina Huang (Taipei, Taiwan), Claire Ma (Boston, Mass.), Lily Millard (Selkirk, N.Y.), Naomi Wang (Boston, Mass.) and Grace Xu (Toronto, Ontario), rising juniors Rebecca Hsieh (Annadale, Va.), Lauren Khoo (San Francisco, Calif.), Alisha Li (Warren, N.J.), Phoebe Li (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Riley Weed (Guilford, Conn.), and rising sophomores Judy Bang (Seoul, South Korea), Julia Peeler (Fairfax, Va.), Renee Sun (Houston, Texas), Daisy Wiseman (Austin, Texas), Emily Zhao (Yorktown, Va.) and Sissi Zou (Shanghai, China) have each been recognized as Individual All-Academic honorees.Â
Chao, Huang, Millard, Wang, Xu, Khoo, A. Li, P. Li, Weed, Peeler, Wiseman, Zhao and Zou have each been acknowledged as Scholars of Distinction.
The USFCA recognizes the individual student-athletes and teams based on their combined Fall and Spring semester GPAs (or Fall and Winter quarter GPAs). All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher. Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher.
